Micro-Discharge Unit - AquastatAmong its many products, Aquastat are sole supplier of a chemical free unit for scale prevention in water systems.

The Aquastat Micro-Discharge Process Unit has proved itself over many years as an effective and economical method, with applications wherever pipework, valves, pump parts or other equipment may be damaged or rendered inefficient by scale deposition.

Suitable areas for applications fall into 2 main categories, once-through systems, such as calorifiers and hot-water boilers, and vented recirculating systems including cooling circuits for air-conditioning plant.

Additionally there are a variety of special applications for the treatment of process and potable water where chemical treatment is unacceptable.

How it works

The process unit is simply fitted into the cold water pipe, requires no off-sets in the pipe line and places no restriction on water flow. The water flows in fine individual streams through a perforated Monel electrode. This is the anode of the unit and imparts a controlled micro-discharge to each stream. The level of current is automatically adjusted by the electronic control unit for the volume and quality of the water flow.

The principle of operation is simple, treating the water physically without the need for chemicals. The controlled minute electrical discharges applied to the water interfere with the polarity of dissolved scale-forming salts. This negates their potential to crystallise into the stereo-chemical patterns of adherent scale.

The two illustrations show micrographs of samples of the same water magnified approximately 800 times. The even dispersion of small particles in the treated sample prevents agglomeration of the particles into hard, adherent scale.

The Aquastat Micro-Discharge Process saves money. Because it uses no chemicals and consumes negligible power, operating costs are insignificant. Because of the simplicity and robust construction of the process and electronic unit, the maintenance requirement is minimal.

Micro-Discharge Unit

Amongst the range of services we provide is the Micro-Discharge Unit (MDU) which prevents the build-up of scale without the use chemicals or salt. It treats water physically by pulsating electrical discharges which interfere with the polarity of the dissolved scale-forming salts.
