Access Control

Access control systems are designed to control and monitor access points such as doors, turnstiles, and car park barriers. A software package for the Microsoft Windows environment allows you to decide who goes where in your building and at what times, so that only authorised personnel may enter.

In addition to this, systems can provide time and attendance monitoring of staff and roll-call generation in the event of a fire to ensure all staff have been evacuated.

A selection of the most popular systems are detailed below:

Keypad Code / Pin Access Control
A keypad-based solution is a cost effective way of preventing unauthorised access. Multiple-keypad systems can allow the movement of people through a property to be networked together to one central 'control' location. If this is not required each keypad can be programmed individually.

Swipe Card Access Control
Swipe Card-based systems allow users to access a property by swiping a uniquely-coded access card through a reader. This allows security personnel to program different sets of access criteria for each access point. The swipe cards are credit card sized and are inexpensive, which makes them suitable for premises with large numbers of users.

Proximity Access Control
Proximity-based access control establishes the identity of users in much the same way as a swipe card system. The difference is that personnel are not required to insert or swipe a card to gain access. The user simply holds their token or card within a given distance of a reader and the system reads the data within it.

Biometric Access Control
This technology establishes the identity of users by analysing certain biological characteristics of the individual to create a unique identifier. This is electronically stored and retrieved for later identification. Biometric systems are a secure way of protecting a property because the user is the key. Theft or loss is not an issue with this type of system.

Audio / Video Intercom Access Control
Intercom systems are a useful addition to any access control system, because they allow visitors to gain access to the property if a member of staff within the organisation permits them to. This is a necessary addition for organisations that receive visitors
